Because He Did, I Can
July 13, 2016
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. KJV
There are some things in life that we never think we will have to go through. Ten years ago, my husband, John, had a heart attack. He had two stints placed in his heart and was sent home the next day. During breakfast, both stints collapsed and he suffered a heart attack. I watched him being placed in a medical helicopter from the front pasture of our home. I prayed and pleaded as we drove to the hospital. The chance of a stint collapsing is 1%. Both of his stints collapsed. Our God is able! They replaced the collapsed stints, and he slowly healed. Life has learning experiences, but God is our Provision.
God’s strength emboldened me beyond earthly sufficiency. He moves me past my comfort zone and complacency. When I am exhausted by life’s trials and disdainful tribulations, Christ infuses me with His strength through life’s situations. God’s strength is made perfect in my weakness. I give Him glory and honor through humbleness. When the drumbeat of life is more than I can bare, I rest in His grace and mercy. I know He is always there. When others look down on my short, finite frame, I look toward heaven and call on His name.
The Lord was our Helper. He was our Shield and did not forsake us. We were more than conquerors through Him that loved us. When they brought him out of surgery, I praised Almighty God! Once he was taken to his room, me and our family held hands and prayed. We were focused on things above; our purpose and destiny. We were strengthened through His power and His might.
I still remember John’s first night in Intensive Care. I had to leave his room for an hour, while they took care of him. I went to the family lounge and began to praise God in song. There was no one in the lounge but me and God! I knew that He had strengthened me. I knew He had strengthened John and our children. I knew He had strengthened the doctors. God moved the mountain out of the way. God takes care of all of His children. Because Jesus is our Present Help in the time of trouble, our Savior, the Way, the Truth and the Life, He emboldens us to lean on Him. Because Christ led the way, I can and you can make it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for being our Great I Am. We thank You for Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We thank You for the Living Word. We know that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We thank You for infusing us with your strength. We thank You, Almighty God, that You take care of us. Help us to keep walking by faith and not by sight. Please be with those who need your strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen and Amen.
