Let’s Get It Fixed!

Read: Psalm 51

Some time ago our large kitchen window began to collect moisture between the double panes of glass which indicated the thermal seal was broken. Our view of the mountains and the skies got so clouded that we could hardly see out. We called a glass company to replace the faulty glass. When the service man finished, it was amazing how beautiful everything looked again through the window! We had gotten so used to the foggy view that we almost accepted it, but remembering the original view we said, “Let’s get it fixed.”

Sometimes we let the spiritual fogginess of complacency cloud our vision and we are tempted to do nothing about it. We almost forget the beauty and joy of walking with the Lord, but the Holy Spirit says, “It’s time to get it fixed.” Then, God graciously brings something or someone into
our lives that clears away the fog and we are drawn into that close and wonderful walk with the Lord again! How different the world looks when we ask the Lord to forgive us of our sins of complacency and apathy.

David prayed:
“Purge me with hyssop (Windex!) and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”
“Create in me a clean heart, O Lord and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
“Restore unto me the joy of your salvation. . . .”
                                                                                          Psalm 51:7, 10 & 12.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for a clean window!

Songs to hum this week: “Whiter Than Snow,” “Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God.”
