Bearing More Fruit
Read: John 15:1-8
“Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”
Non-believers experience a life-changing transformation when the Word of God pierces their heart and they believe in Jesus Christ and invite Him to become their Lord and Savior.
When the Word of God is received in the heart of a man or woman, there is a deposit of a seed from Jesus Christ that takes up residence inside of us. When this seed is watered and nurtured, it matures within the believer, thus bearing good fruit as recorded in Galatians 5:22-23: “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, faith, meekness, and temperance.”
Christians must be careful not to miss their season for the Master’s pruning. We ought to make ourselves available to be purged and consecrated for the appointed time. Although pruning may come with some uncomfortable experiences, such as moments of distress, lack of peace, and uncertainties, it is necessary for Christian maturity and development. This maturity is activated by prayer, faith, and trust.
Our ultimate goal is to glorify and honor God in everything that we do. We must allow our inner spirit to be constantly purged and our heart transformed and our mind renewed by God so that we may continue to bear more and more righteous fruit.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am your servant and I have chosen to receive you as my Savior. God, purge and prune me with your Holy Spirit and take away all unrighteousness so that I may be able to bear good fruit for your use. I thank you for loving me and saving me. I am forever grateful to bear fruit in your name. Amen.
