Living, Learning, & Growing

Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; Teach the righteous ones and they will add to their learning.”Proverbs 9:9

My wife and I have now become “country” people moving from our house in Torrington to an old farm house in Nebraska. We have been learning a lot since moving there. We have learned that flies are more numerous in places where the cows gather than in the city. We are learning that mice like warm houses to make their nests for the winter months. We have learned that when you see one kangaroo rat there will be many more. We are fast learning that spiders live anywhere they want to and come out at the most inopportune time (according to Kelly that is always).  We are learning about packing high moisture corn, low moisture corn, how to thresh a wheat field, how to properly trim a tree, and many other “country” things.

It is fun learning and growing in this country experience and that same learning is important as we continue to learn and grow in Christ. Many times I have heard that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks and after consulting with a dog trainer that statement is false.  It seems you can teach an old dog new tricks and as people we need to keep on learning about what our Lord and Savior has in store for us. To learn we must spend time in prayer and in the Word that is given to us. Are you learning and growing in His grace this day?  In 2 Peter 3:18 we are reminded, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Kelly and I look forward to learning more about the country life and I encourage everyone to open hearts and minds and continue to learn and grow in their spiritual life. May God bless you all this day and may His presence fill you with His peace.

Prayer: Almighty and gracious God, help us to love you and grow in your grace always.  Let us not make excuses for not learning more each and every day.  In Your most holy name we pray. Amen.
