Invitation from Rev. Steve Van Ostran
Dear ABCRM Friends and Family,
I am excited to announce our 2018 Gathering theme: “Gospel in an Age of Disconnection”. This theme was developed by a diverse group of nine senior pastors, Region staff and our current and past Board Presidents. Our hope in this Gathering is to address the question: “Across our theological and contextual differences, we share this concern, how do we address a growing disconnect between church and culture?”
As one who attends a lot of meetings, I must tell you that the development and fleshing out of this theme was one of the most vibrant and dynamic meetings I have ever attended. Talking frankly about the common challenges faced by pastors and churches in our modern culture, no matter their theology or contextual setting, was energizing and truly “inspiring” (literally, “a breath of God”). From this meeting, suggestions were made to make this Gathering better in every way: different scheduling, different content, different place and even different speakers. Having carefully considered the subject, the group identified a list of possible speakers who might speak into their ministries and lives, and from this list identified their preferred teacher. I am pleased to share we were able to secure our first choices of Skye Jethani and ABC-USA General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Lee Spitzer. You can read more about these speakers in the bios enclosed.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be one of our meetings if we didn’t have some IM missionaries and mission work to share. Dwight and Barb Bollick, IM Global Servants to Chile and familiar friends of ABCRM, will be with us to present during our Friday lunch sessions. They will present alongside members of ABCRM’s Disaster Relief Group that served in Puerto Rico this year.
So, make your plans to be with your ABCRM family September 27-29 to join in Breckenridge. I guarantee you will leave having been filled by God’s presence!
