Hope in the Land of the Living
“Still, I am certain to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait patiently for the LORD!” (Ps. 27:13-14).
Imagine yourself in a place of “awestruck!” Think of a time you were in awe of the land of the living God. What are you doing? Where are you?
When I have a look of admiration and shock, I am usually in the mountains on a trail seeing God’s masterpiece. As I think about creation and some of the places I have walked, how can one think there is not a creator? Hope in the land the Lord created is not hard to have. My hope comes from seeing the Lord’s masterpiece.
One time this Summer, I was in the place I call “Wildflower Valley,” and I became awestruck. I stood there in wonder and amazement in the Lord’s goodness and greatness. His goodness is represented by the delicate wildflowers all along the trail and through the valley. These delicate flowers are God’s strength and goodness. It amazed me that these wildflowers grow back every year and rely on God’s provision to both grow and to thrive! His greatness is displayed through the beautiful landscape and the glorious peaks in the backdrop.
I am thankful to see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living of which He created. I am certain that there is Hope in our Creator. Having hope in the Lord’s goodness and greatness allows me to wait patiently for Him to do His work. As I bring myself back to that place, it reminds me of my strength and courage I possess from the Lord.
We are in the season of Advent. Advent means coming. Advent is the season of waitingfor the coming Lord. Advent is the period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas. We are to have hope in Him and His creation. This season reminds me that I am able to wait because of the hope I remember in the land of the living.
As I picture myself in “Wildflower Valley,” I remember God’s work in my own life. I see His Faithfulness in His presence in my life through loved ones, and I am able to share this love with those around me.
Prayer:
May the Lord show us His goodness and greatness in this season of Advent. May we remember the works he has done in our lives. May we remember our strength and courage comes in the waiting and seeing of His goodness and greatness. May we share this goodness and greatness with family and friends this Advent season. Amen.
